Propane Safety Tips for Year-Round Peace of Mind
Propane is a remarkably safe fuel, used for heating, cooking, powering appliances, and more. As the seasons change, propane safety remains top of mind for us here at Glider Oil Co. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of propane safety tips for maximum comfort and peace of mind, no matter the season.
-
Never use outdoor propane appliances indoors. This can result in carbon monoxide exposure!
-
Regularly inspect your propane appliances for damage, especially after storms or other extreme weather conditions.
-
Check your propane gauge levels, as running out can damage your tank. We offer will-call and automatic delivery service so you don’t have to worry about running out!
-
Never store or place a propane cylinder indoors or in an enclosed area such as a basement, garage, shed, or tent.
-
Don’t try to modify your propane valves, regulators, or other appliance parts. Give us a call and we’ll help you out!
-
Install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your home.
If you smell rotten eggs or suspect you might have a propane leak, turn off the main gas supply valve on your propane tank if it is safe to do so, and get to a fresh air location. Contact emergency services, then call Glider Oil at (800) 724-3835. Have your propane appliances checked before you attempt to use them again to make sure there are no leaks. For your safety, we offer GASCheck™ inspections to ensure safe and efficient system operation.
