July Is Fuel Safety Awareness Month!

- 3:54 pm - July 17th, 2026

Propane is a safe fuel however you may use it -- for heating, cooking, grilling, and more. Plus, Glider Oil Co. keeps your propane systems running safely, reliably and efficiently. However, as with any fuel, there are general propane safety rules you should observe at all times:

  • NEVER use outdoor propane appliances, such as outdoor portable heaters, barbecue grills, and portable generators, indoors or in enclosed areas. This could result in dangerous carbon monoxide poisoning or death. Only use appliances indoors that are designed and approved for indoor use. Purchase and install smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors in your home (and know what to do if the detector sounds!).
  • NEVER store or place a propane cylinder indoors or in an enclosed area such as a basement, garage, shed, or tent.
  • NEVER use a gas oven or range-top burners to provide space heating.
  • DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES try to modify or repair valves, regulators, or other appliance parts. Call the experts at Glider Oil Co.
  • NEVER turn on a light switch, use any power source, or inspect your household appliances while standing in water. This can result in electrocution.

In addition to the safety rules above, we have loads of information on our website about what to do if you smell gas and what to do if your propane equipment has been damaged or shut off.
