It’s January! Time to Get out the Propane Grill!
The air is chillin’ … so let’s get grillin’ … with Glider Oil Co.!
Go ahead – serve up some juicy burgers, franks, or wings hot off your propane grill this winter … or get serious and roast an entire chicken or whole fish– just stay warm and safe and follow these cold weather tips:
- You’ll need more propane than for summer grilling: Cold temperatures reduce fuel efficiency, so have a spare tank ready as you’ll use more to maintain heat.
- You’ll also need to preheat longer: Allow 10-20 minutes for preheating, significantly more than in summer, to combat the cold.
- Position the grill away from wind: You’ll want to prevent flames and embers from blowing out. Positioning the grill away from the wind also allows for more even heating.
- Keep the grill’s lid closed: Resist opening the lid frequently; the grill loses heat rapidly, extending cooking time and using more fuel.
- Check the grill’s components: Inspect hoses for cracks and burners and jets for blockages. Yellow flames mean you need to clean your grill.
- Practice safety first: Clear snow and ice from the path to the grill, use good lighting, and avoid wearing flammable clothing or loose articles like scarves near flames.
